Melanie Probert (Strumpet) 1965 - 2015
|
So the story began and so it continued with laughter, tears, beauty, frustrations and life's blessings and complications for over decade. But the journey, at least this stage here on earth, has now come to an end as the rare woman that was Melanie Probert, the Strumpet in the equation, died on 3rd October 2015.
It is with sadness and disbelief that these words are written. Words, which cannot begin to convey the loss of such a unique and gifted woman. My thoughts go to her wonderful husband with whom she found the happiness and love that she both needed and deserved and to her beautiful daughter with gorgeous new life in her arms.
My Dear Mel, may your journey be filled with all of the wild flowers, beauty and wonder that you sought and please continue with your custom of wearing inappropriate garments in inappropriate places. And most importantly smile that expansive smile and laugh your very particularly dirty laugh all of the way.
Farewell Lovely xxx
Hey Lisa. I have loved Strumpet & Pink from afar for a long time now, and I was just looking for the brand's site (to credit a photo in a blog post I'm writing), when I came across this instead. I'm so, so sorry for your loss. Melanie was clearly an incredible person, and she, and the work you made together, will be sorely missed. Wishing you all the best, and thinking of you and Melanie's family.
ReplyDeleteDear Anna, thankyou for your lovely thoughts. Mel was certainly a rare and unique being. Although no new pieces will be created under the name of Strumpet & Pink, I have plans afoot to mark and celebrate the stories that we generated through the knickers.

ReplyDeleteI think I knew your Mel. I lost touch with my Mel in late 80s. I thought about her over the years but didn't know where to look for her. At the V&A today I saw her name. With yours. I now know that I have found her and lost her again on the same day. I am heartbroken to be too late.
